Hello! I’m Norbu, a passionate Tibetan language teacher with a deep academic background and years of experience guiding students toward fluency. I hold a Bachelor’s (Shastri) degree from the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies and a Master’s degree from the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology in Gangtok, Sikkim, specializing in Tibetan Culture, Literature, Buddhist Philosophy, and English Language.
For over five years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching Tibetan to non-native speakers, helping more than 500 students master Classical and Standard Tibetan, as well as colloquial speech, grammar, reading, and calligraphy. The course is designed for English speakers. Because English and Tibetan are very different languages, I explain things in English for most of the course so that you can understand the main concepts more easily, and the transition to Tibetan is smoother and easier to understand.
No previous knowledge of the language is required.
The beginner's course is designed for those who are starting from scratch, which is why it starts from the absolute basics. However, the course is also perfect for advanced beginners, as the difficulty of the lessons will gradually increase.

I will provide you with skills to deal with everyday situations: you will be able to ask your name, age and time, as well as introduce yourself, express gratitude and apologize. NUMBERS, ALPHABET AND TONES:
In addition to the basics, you will be able to pronounce letters, numbers and words correctly. Sometimes, it is pronunciation that also makes a difference in understanding a dialogue. Building a solid foundation in pronunciation will be essential to help you master this language! Master the 30 consonants, vowel signs, and how to pronounce them correctly.

VOCABULARY:
Through the course you will enrich your vocabulary in lesson by lesson. Colors, animals, food, seasons, days of the week and much more. Through listening, lots of practice, and the exercises I have created for you, you will be able to manage the language and understand basic dialogues in Tibetan.

This video shows what the course, videos and additional materials look like.
The course is divided into several sections, containing more than 60 video lessons and exercises. I recommend watching the sessions in order, as the course offers a sequential and logical learning path.
Remember that you can always go back and watch the lessons as often as needed.
All videos are in FULL HD and you can adjust the speed, audio and quality.
In all my videos, I try to use as many visual elements as possible, such as pictures, tables, and graphs. At the same time, you can also see me talking directly to you, making the lessons as engaging and entertaining as possible.
